We discovered Chilham over 30 years ago, falling for its charm, history, beautiful architecture and surrounding countryside.

Then in 2005, when the opportunity arose, we decided to take on Grade 2 Listed Orions Cottage, restoring it with the love and attention we felt it deserved. We believed that it would be the perfect place in which to welcome visitors seeking a peaceful retreat, and a base for their Kentish Holiday.

Dating back to 1470, it is one of the oldest buildings in the village. Surrounded by the stunning Chilham Castle, which sits at one end of the square, and the village church at the other, Chilham has provided the backdrop for numerous films and TV series, including BBC’s Jane Austen’s Emma, Powell and Pressburger’s The Canterbury Tale, Miss Marple and Poirrot. It is no surprise that Chilham is a firm favourite for media location seekers.

And 30 years later, we get that same feeling as we drive up the hill into the village square. We hope you feel the same way too !
